Is Monthly RV Living Actually Cheaper Than Renting?

Working from an RV sounds romantic — and it can be. But the difference between a productive month and a frustrating one often comes down to one thing: the park’s internet infrastructure. We went beyond the “Wi-Fi available” checkbox and looked at actual speeds, backup options, and community setups that make remote work genuinely viable.

How We Ranked Them

Every park on this list was evaluated on five criteria: average download speed (we used crowdsourced speed-test data plus direct park surveys), availability of backup cellular signal, on-site workspace or clubhouse with power outlets, noise level during business hours, and monthly rate relative to amenity quality. No park made the list on Wi-Fi alone.

The List

These five parks stood out in our research. Monthly rates shown are approximate ranges for a standard full-hookup site.

  1. Whispering Pines Retreat
  2. Painted Desert Haven
  3. Pine Valley Collective
  4. High Sierra Retreat
  5. Coastal Drift Estates
What to Ask Before You Book

A park advertising “high-speed Wi-Fi” can mean anything. Before committing to a monthly stay, ask these questions directly: What is the average download speed during peak hours (6–9 PM)? Is the network shared or are there bandwidth limits per site? Do sites have cellular signal from major carriers as a backup?

Parks that answer these questions confidently — with real numbers — are the ones that have invested in their infrastructure. Vague answers are a red flag. Many parks on our list now publish their speed-test results publicly, which is the gold standard.
